Following the guidelines of the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Southern California Robotics League (SCRL) will provide a regular robotics season as possible. This will include the use of both remote and if possible, in person tournaments. Please follow all applicable guidelines and restrictions regarding COVID-19 and social distancing. Be safe. Implementation details will be left to each team.

Registering a Team:

FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to children ages 4-16* through fun, exciting hands-on learning. FIRST LEGO League participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together. In FIRST LEGO League, students engage in hands-on STEM experiences, building confidence, growing their knowledge and developing habits of learning. FIRST LEGO League’s three divisions inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.

Qualifying Tournament:


Qualifying Tournaments will be held the first two weekends in March. All teams must submit all their materials by February 26th at 9:00pm PST.

On October 22ndFIRST registered teams will be sent information on how to pay via Paypal and then register for a Qualifying Tournament.

Qualifying Tournament Sign-ups will begin Thursday, October 22nd. All team members must have their Youth Registration submitted through FIRST before they sign up for a Qualifying Tournament. The team list from the FIRST website will be required at QT registration.

The registration for this year will be $100 per team for the Qualifying Tournament. To attend the Championship or the Southern California Robotics League Tournament, an additional fee will apply.

Both. The team is required to upload their presentations as unlisted videos to YouTube, and their robot source code and optional supporting documents to Google Drive or a similar cloud storage site. Links to these files will then be submitted electronically by coaches via flltournament.com , following the guidance document linked at the top of this FAQ.

The team is required to upload two (2) unlisted videos to YouTube, each 3-9 minutes long and containing a single 2.5-minute Robot Game round, plus additional closeups before and afterward to allow accurate scoring. Video preparation requirements are provided at the top of this FAQ, including general requirements for all video submissions as well as specific requirements for the Robot Game video. Links to these video files will then be submitted electronically by coaches via flltournament.com , following the guidance document linked at the top of this FAQ.
Each Qualifying Tournament Director will choose how they wish to display awards at the end of the day.
Each team will receive their medals and trophies via mail to the Lead Coach’s address that they used when registering the team with FIRST
Teams advancing will be announced at the awards meeting.

 

Championship:

The Championship will be held on April 10th, 2021
The Championship will be a remote event, held very similar as the Qualifying Tournaments.
All materials for the Championship are due on April 1st, 2021 by 8:00 PM PST.
Each team will receive their medals and trophies via mail to the Lead Coach’s address that they used when registering the team with FIRST
